Photos on this page were taken mostly in the eighties when Pease, Griffis, Loring and Plattsburgh AFB had Open Houses and Air Shows. Held during the Summer, these events provided a great opportunity for the local community and all aviation enthousiasts both in the U.S. and Canada to have an inside look at a SAC base. In those days, Pease and Plattsburgh were 'closed bases' and photography was quite impossible and not authorized. The only way to make it on the flightline with a camera was to be escorted by someone from the Wing Public Affairs Office and a good reason was needed to get there. No need to say that when the bases held their Open Houses, attending those was a must for the aviation enthousiast. Parking was in a special area on the ramp not far from the static display where you could see many types of visiting aircraft and helos. The host unit had many of their own aircrafts on display like KC-135s and FB-111s.
