This is the only website dedicated to promote interest in the aircraft and support the FB community at large. Previously "FB-111A.net", the website is now FB-111.net. It all started in 1996 with a page about nose-arts from the 380th BW in Plattsburgh AFB. After many hours of work by the creator and webmaster of FB-111A.net, Philippe Colin, the website is up again and every member of the FB community is invited to comment and share stories, infos and pics. The subjects are indexed on the first 2 pages. The plan is to update the website when new infos/pics are uncovered. This is why everyone's contribution of any kind is welcome. Stories, newspapers clips, photos and infos, etc.... There is a lot of research and many hours spent in doing a website like this. Thank you to all that contributed in the past with infos and photos. Click on the link below to see what has been added since your last visit.
Every pilot and navigator coming to the FB-111A program were assigned to the 4007th Combat Crew Training Squadron (later redesigned 530th CCTS) at Carswell AFB and later Plattsburgh AFB, NY. The mission of the CCTS was to provide highly-qualified, combat-ready aircrew members to the FB-111A Bombardment Squadrons in the Strategic Air Command.
learn moreOn these two pages are Class photos obtained from the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Museum in Plattsburgh, NY. The base was the home of the 4007th Combat Crew Training Squadron. It seems that not every classes had their photo taken, therefore it will be impossible to have a complete selection. If you do have a class photo that is not shown on this page and/or have additional infos, please e-mail the webmaster.
learn more Updates, credits and disclaimerIn the mid-eighties, nose-arts appeared on FB-111A from the 380th BW and 509th BW. Not all FBs carried nose-arts but were named and over the years, the same nose-art and name appeared on different aircraft for various reasons.
learn moreJerry has given permission to post his work on the site and has kindly provided us with much of the material still in his possession. More of this material may be in private hands. If you have any of his work and would care to share it, please get in touch with me. The book from which these cartoons were taken will eventually be reprinted and details how to obtain this book will be posted on the site, when available. The following cartoons are not all related directly to the FB-111A as most were drawn before the first FB was built. But they all relate to the SAC mission and in this sense, they are timeless and relate to every aircraft ever flown by SAC.
